Proceeding Confidently When Making an ERP Decision

August 01, 2018 / 0 Comments / in ERP Software, Acumatica Cloud ERP / by Nancy Phillippi

At Clients First Business Solutions, we’ve been in this business long enough to understand that decision makers and end users alike are often nervous about the idea of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) replacement or upgrade. Whether they have heard horror stories about ERP implementation failures, they’ve read research about dismal success rates, or are just worried about the major change it could have on the way of doing business, there are many reasons someone may want to proceed with caution.

July 11, 2018 / 0 Comments / in ERP Software, Acumatica Cloud ERP / by Nancy Phillippi

Over the past decade, the cloud has moved from a fringe deployment option designed for small and medium businesses to an enterprise-ready offering that can handle the needs of global businesses or publicly traded companies. However, it’s also likely you’ve heard a lot of hype and exaggeration about the cloud’s game-changing benefits or disruptive design.

Top Reasons to Engage in a Fixed Fee ERP Implementation

Fixed Fee ERP Project

Fixed fee ERP implementation projects used to be something that I dared not speak of with prospects and customers.  Why?  Because I have been selling software for over 20 years and a few years ago accounting, manufacturing and general business software still had the clunky user interfaces, old back-end technology on proprietary databases, and of course the dreaded installation on suspect hardware.  This can eat up consulting dollars before you even get started.  Well, times have changed!  Software like Acumatica which was recently named a leader in ease of use makes it easy for our Acumatica consulting team to setup a customer using predefined setups that fit about 90% of all companies.  Customers get up and running fast and pay the services in 3 installments.  Budgeting for an ERP project has never been easier.   Really, the project has never been easier either.

Dynamics 365 Enterprise Mobility in the Warehouse

Dynamics 365 Mobility in the WarehouseDynamics 365 Enterprise for Operations and Finanice (Dynamics 365 E or even shorter, D365E!) is of course written in HTML 5 which means you can access it from any Internet connection, however it's not always the a good idea to overwhelm staff with forms and pages they don't need to see.  D365E has come with a couple of ways around this; Mobile Apps Tool to create your own mobile apps and Dynamics also has many that they are creating and releasing for customers to use or tweak to fit specific business needs.  The Warehouse Mobile App was released in AX 2012 but this app has changed based on new requirements and technology.  This document outlines the differences in these two warehouse apps.

Start and End with Acumatica

This article is going to try to sell you something and I do hope that if you are a small to mid-sized company you don't let that turn you off and read the rest of this article.  I have been selling business software to manufacturers and distributors for 20 years.  If I am selling into the small to mid-sized companies, I often find that the reason they need new software is because they can't function on their old legacy system. These systems can range from a custom database for operations, and QuickBooks for accounting, or software that even I have never heard of.  The focus of the business has been developing a customer base and ensuring plant equipment and inventory as the top priority.  They are talking to me because they are in pain due to the lack of the tools needed to do business in today's world.  Why not start with a decent software solution at the before your huge growth cycle?  This really has not been possible until now with the cloud ERP solutions like Acumatica a FULL featured business software that can be used on ANY device.  Please read on...

It's Budgeting Time!

November 09, 2017 / 0 Comments / in Microsoft Dynamics AX, ERP Software, Dynamics 365 for Operations, Dynamics 365 Enterprise, Budgeting / by Courtney Collum

The phrase “It’s budget time” generally produces a groan from everyone who participates in this time consuming, often misunderstood process. I have heard all the arguments on budgets: “It’s just a guessing game,” “How can I possibly know what is going to happen next week let alone 6 months from now,” “I have to add extra expenses because I know management is going to reduce what I submit,” “I don’t understand budgets,” “I don’t have hours to spend coming up with ‘fake’ numbers that are going to be ignored,” and “why do we need a budget if it is not always accurate?”

Selecting Inventory Control Software

August 09, 2017 / 0 Comments / in ERP Software, ERP solutions, inventory control, inventory management, inventory software choices / by Nancy Phillippi

Selecting a new accounting software package can be a monumental task that nearly every C level professional has had to do or will have to do sometime during their career.   Add inventory control and manufacturing to the list of requirements and the task can be even more challenging. Company executives don't want to under or over buy an ERP solution.  The goal should be to have a solution that won't require a major upgrade for a few years (even on a SaaS model), and flexible enough to meet all the business needs over the next 3 - 5 years.  In our current business environment acquisitions are fairly common, which means the software you buy today may need to run a completely different line of business in the future.

Inventory Requirements and ERP Selection

August 07, 2017 / 0 Comments / in ERP Software, ERP Implementation, Process Manufacturing ERP / by Nancy Phillippi

Mike Conti has over 20 years experience with helping companies work with business software or ERP (enterprise resource planning).  He took a few minutes and documented some very important issues regarding inventory that should be considered when a business begins evaluating ERP.   As Mike states in his white paper, I have also have heard from prospects numerous times focusing on how long is the field name length of our inventory master file during discovery sales calls.  This is really a mute point since more ERP software solutions have expanded their field lengths or you can extend them easily.   Consider instead the points in Mike's document.
